Head Keeper Ali joined us here at the park a couple of Months ago and if you’re a regular you will hopefully have seen him doing an animal demonstration or talk by now. Let’s find out a little bit more about our new Head Keeper!
Ali tell us abit about yourself?
I used to work as a lumberjack on a logging yard and on a farm. I hope to bring lots of skills to Avon Valley including animal management and livestock care. I have a creative side Iʼd like to incorporate into my work and put my own mark on the place.

What is your favourite animal or activity in the Park?
My favourite animal in the park would have to be the Dartmoor greyface sheep we have, they are lovely in nature and great to look at with the impressive fleece they carry all year round.
What is your favourite thing about working in the Park?
The variety in which Avon Valley Park brings in it’s day to day tasks. A bonus is working with animals alongside the public, itʼs social as well as interesting.
What is your favourite childhood film?
My favourite film would have to be the first Shrek movie.
Do you have any pets at home?
I have 2 pets, a working collie called Faye, who works well on the sheep. I also have a Terrier called Tod.
What is your party trick?
My party trick would have to be beatboxing.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
When I grow up I want to be a ‘retired Farmerʼ running a small group of sheep in the hills in the middle of nowhere.
