Statement on North Keynsham Plan.
Here at Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park we are working in partnership with Bath and North East Somerset Council to develop an affiliated approach with regard to the new North Keynsham plan.
Whereas some of the land that the Douglas family own will potentially be involved in this development, a large proportion would not be involved. This gives us the unique & exciting opportunity to develop plans to relocate Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park elsewhere on the farm.
Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park, currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, is the third largest visitor attraction in Bath and North East Somerset and is the 13th largest visitor attraction in the South-West of England. We currently employ 75 members of staff, with the majority based in Keynsham and the surrounding areas.
To date we are supporting the Housing Infrastructure Bid (HIF) that the council have developed, while continuing to work closely with them to deliver a good Joint Spatial Plan (JSP) and local plan.
The Douglas family have been employers in the local area since 1907 with the Douglas Motorcycle Works in Brislington. Avon Valley Farm, was the largest pick your own fruit farm in the South West until the early 80’s when Avon Valley Adventure Park and Wildlife Park opened. We as a family are tied intrinsically to the local area and the community and believe that our longevity is key to our business.
